Wedding photography in Lancashire: Amy and Scott’s wedding at St Mary Magdalene Church, Burnley and Whalley Abbey, Clitheroe

A big congratulations to Amy and Scott who tied the knot on Easter Sunday!  Amy got in touch in early 2012 to enquire about wedding photography packages.  She just so happened to stumble across my wedding photography Facebook page via a mutual friend.  I was extremely excited to be asked to be their photographer – they had planned to have their ceremony at St Mary Magdalene Church, Burnley followed by a fabulous reception at the infamous Whalley Abbey, Clitheroe.

Despite having more than twelve months to go at the time of booking, 31st March 2013 was very soon nearly upon us.  Being Easter weekend, we were hoping for a nice day, however the week previously had seen heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures!  Fortunately however, by Sunday the snow had melted and it was a pleasant day.

The day started at Amy’s sister’s house in Burnley.  Bridal preparations were in full swing when I arrived – lots of lovely ladies being pampered.  A striking array of wedding flowers were sitting in the kitchen, courtesy of Paul Lomax Wedding and Event Florist, Chatburn.  Amy looked stunning in her dress which was from Amelia’s, Clitheroe and the bridesmaids wore classic midnight blue.  It wasn’t long before a beautiful vintage car from Malvern Wedding Cars arrived to transport the girls to the venue in style.

Following a lovely ceremony, the guests showered the newlyweds with confetti and wished them well, and shortly after headed over to Whalley Abbey.  Guests were treated to a candy floss and popcorn cart courtesy of the Icicle Tricycle Company which as you can imagine, went down a storm with the kids!  The venue was dressed beautifully, there was lots of candlelight to complement the royal blue theme, and a huge garland of fairylights cascaded from the wall behind the top table.  The wedding cake by The Little Bird Bakes took pride of place by the window.

Prior to the wedding breakfast, we took advantage of the amazing scenery at the Abbey for photographs, we were spoilt rotten for photo opportunities!  Many thanks to the best man and ushers for helping me to get all of the guests outside for a very chilly group photo!

Amy and Scott’s wedding had all the ingredients for a perfect wedding – a very happy couple, lots of lovely family and friends ready to celebrate, a stunning venue, dry weather and a good party afterwards!  I really enjoyed being a part of your day… congratulations to you both again and best wishes for a happy future! x

Wedding photography in Blackpool: Emily and Mark’s wedding at Festival House and Uncle Tom’s Cabin

I was very excited to be asked to photograph Emily and Mark’s big day in Blackpool.  They were tying the knot at Festival House, Blackpool.  I have wanted to photograph a wedding at this venue for a while now, the decor is really modern and fresh with lots of natural daylight flooding in through the window.  What’s more, the building has pride of place on the promenade, overlooking the sea and the infamous Blackpool Tower!

The day started with the bridal preparations at Leverdale Hotel, North Shore.  Emily, her chief bridesmaid Riquella and two very excited flower girls were being pampered by Emma from Wedding Belles, Lytham.  Emily’s hair and makeup looked fabulous.   The flower girls were in their element surrounded by sparkly nail polish, glitter spray, pretty dresses and party shoes!

Emily and the bridal party travelled to Festival House in style with a fab stretched limo from Jet Set Limousines.  Mark and the boys were waiting patiently at the venue, all looking very dapper in their suits!  After a lovely ceremony, thankfully the weather stayed fine enough to take some photographs of family and friends on the balcony of Festival House, then it was straight off to Uncle Tom’s Cabin for the reception.  The room had been transformed since my last visit – beautiful table decorations and chair covers and the lovely wedding cake was stood on the stage.  After the speeches and food, the bride and groom took to the dancefloor for the first dance, followed by Emily and her father.  The dancefloor soon sprung to life, the kids showed the guests how it was done with a very energetic Gangnam Style performance!  Actually Emily and Riquella threw in a good few moves too!

This was such a fun wedding to photograph, I really enjoyed being part of Emily and Mark’s big day.  A big congratulations to the newlyweds, I wish you and your family all the best for a very happy future together! x

Wedding photography in Bolton: Gemma and Nick’s wedding at Christ Church and Egerton House Hotel.

I was delighted when Gemma and her husband-to-be Nick asked me to photograph their wedding.  I met with them in 2012 after a mutual friend put us in touch.  It just so happened that whilst Gemma and Nick were trying to organise their wedding in Bolton, they were also relocating to the Isle of Man with their children.  Wow, this was some supercouple… moving house, changing jobs, moving countries and organising a wedding all within less than 12 months!

The big day soon came round and as luck would have it, the weather in Lancashire the week beforehand was appalling!  There were severe weather warnings and the news spoke of people being snowed in.  I called Gemma and told her we may need a plan B for the wedding photos!  However the joy of the British weather is that it is so unpredictable, Saturday came round and it was sunny.  All snow had melted and amazingly, the guests were even able to enjoy drinks outside after the ceremony!

Gemma and the girls got ready at her sister’s home.  I arrived to a full house, hair and makeup preparations in full flow and the atmosphere was brimming with excitement!  The flower girls looked adorable in their little dresses.  Gemma’s dress was from Lacy Days in Ramsbottom – a stunning bridal gown with laced back, thank goodness for a great team of bridesmaids to help her into it!

Gemma arrived at the church with her father in a beautiful vintage car .  Nick and the ushers were waiting patiently and looked very smart in their tartan kilts.  Following the ceremony, the guests headed to nearby Egerton House Hotel where they enjoyed a very unlikely al fresco drinks reception whilst the sun shone!  The main reception was held in the Barn which is a separate area of the hotel, perfect for weddings.  Wedding planner Rebecca Karen had done a fabulous job of the room decor and flowers.  Stunning centrepieces included vintage vases and teapots which held beautiful blush, champagne and mint toned flower arrangements amongst tealights.  Fairlylights surrounded the period fireplace and there was definitely a romantic feel about the room.  Gemma and Nick’s wedding cake was made by family friend Tracy Stevens.

Following a fabulous wedding breakfast, Gemma and Nick partied the night away with their family and friends and everyone seemed to be having a ball as I snuck away from the celebrations!  All the best to Gemma and Nick for a happy future together and thank you for allowing me to be part of your big day! x

Anne Marie and Pete’s Wedding in Withington and the Alma Lodge Hotel, Stockport

Anne Marie and Pete got married on 16th February 2013 and they could not have picked a better day – what are the chances of a bright sunny day in Manchester in February?!  But lo and behold, the skies were blue and the sun shone all day, although admittedly it was a bit chilly!  The ceremony was held at St Cuthbert’s Church, Withington where Anne Marie and her father arrived in a fabulous vintage car from Belle Celebrations, Lymm.  Anne Marie looked stunning in her wedding dress which was from Berketex Bride.  Following the ceremony, we took advantage of the good weather and grabbed some photo opportunities outside the church with family and friends, and of course Anne Marie and Pete enjoying their champers!

The wedding reception was held at the Alma Lodge Hotel, Stockport.  Guests enjoyed a celebratory drinks reception in the hotel lobby area which was very cosy with the fires lit.  I don’t think I was too popular asking all the guests to venture back outside into the cold for a group photo!  The hotel staff and the team from Belle Celebrations had done a great job of decorating the room where the wedding breakfast was held.  The royal blue theme was really striking and a stunning wedding cake from the infamous Slattery‘s took pride of place.

Anne Marie and Pete had a fantastic day celebrating with their family and friends and I was delighted to be a part of it.  A big congratulations to the lovely couple and all the best for a happy future together!
